10 easy tips to significantly improve your career

So you want to get ahead in today’s ruthless professional (doubt that) world. There are plenty of know it all trainers ready to let you in on the secret to fame and fortune at the workplace. They’ll even promise you to get out of it with your morals sparkling white and absolutely no collateral casualties. Those are just some childish lies which give you a short lived confidence boost just like a morning coffee whose effect wears off by noon.
The truth is, getting ahead [...]

Aren’t anti-globalization protesters hypocritical folks?

Not being a fan of carbon copy life, it’s easy to figure out why i sympathize with those who oppose globalization. I’m far from taking a stand for protecting traditions, which for the most part i consider too rigid and mind numbing, despite their occasional charm and colorfulness. Still, this mass averaging of all of our values by a norm dictated usually by big corporations and special interests, can be anything but useful or graceful. That’s why, in a perfect world, it shouldn’t exist [...]

Were women and television twin sisters separated at birth?

Way back in high school, we once got an assignment for our psychology class in which we had to find as many similarities between two random entities of our choice. Unfortunately, i picked parliament and parsley and it was hell. Wish i had chosen something much more accessible such as women and television.
At first, this might seem a bit strange. After all, one is a gentle human being with a mind of her own and feelings, while the other is just an artificial institution [...]

Are you someone who knows how to give 110%?

Isn’t this just a tad annoying when uberly competitive type A personalities proudly assert the fact they are always giving 110%? Did they pay any attention whatsoever during their science class in high school? Or maybe in US of A even the stereotypes are based on stupidity.
I wasn’t really a fan of physics or other sciences for that matter while growing up, mostly because of the non intuitive way in which they are being taught and the incredible number of taboos and superstitions that [...]

Why is anyone getting offended by anything these days?

I remember a time a few years ago, say maybe a decade, when i wouldn’t have to open the TV, browse a website or read a newspaper only to find than some obscure minority (or not) group suddenly got offended by something one individual had said or done. It was a strange place when people could actually say what they thought about the world around them, without fear that they might get shut down or bitch slapped the very next moment.
It’s true that being [...]

I’m back. The world’s a much richer place to write about!

A few months ago i was hardly considering writing anything new on this lousy blog. After all it’s a few days short of a year since i last wrote something. It just as well could have been two, three or more years, if it hadn’t been for these wonderful times we’re living. Let’s face it, as much as it sucks to be caught in and around an erupting volcano, it sure makes for great photos if you’re taken them from a safe distance.
So what’s [...]

How i burried my excessive TV waching habit

Yes, i’m a former TV addict, proud to say i gave it up almost entirely. For the most part of my life, watching television was just a favorite pastime, a few hours a day just because i couldn’t find anything better to do. And then it started to gradually grow. The more work i had to do, the worse i felt and needed some way to compensate, so the best i could find at that time was to watch whatever crap was on. [...]

Things to do when you’re feeling down

For those of us who haven’t been fortunate enough to be silver spooned from the first day we’ve come into this world, life can be a troublesome experience. Practically everyone around us can at least at one point be annoying, if not a downright pain in the ass. Given that troubles usually come one after the other, following the attraction principle and that you might amplify that perception by your own personal beliefs, there might be times when you feel you’ve reached a personal [...]

Have i gained some weight, honey bun?

I definitely heard mainly the same question more times than i would have liked to, from most of the young girls/women I’ve got the chance to discuss. As much as I’d like to talk about the behavioral flaws that support such dilemmas, I’ll leave it to another glorious blog moment.
I’m much more interested in when and if it’s worth breaking the news, spilling the cruel truth to the people around us. Is feedback a ready made, prepackaged solution? Even those used to it can [...]

Shut up and listen!

When was the last time you ever really listened? We all know you hear daily a million things, most of them completely useless or harmful. After a while everything seems to fall into the background, becoming nothing but some form of noise, cluttering your brain and your memory. It’s just like in a flea shop or a dusty attic where you tend to keep all those things you might never use again, sometimes forgetting you even had them in the first place.
Still, most of [...]
